Itinerary For: 2 Days Tour From Ouarzazate To Zagora Desert
Day 1 – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora Desert
Your 2-day tour from ouarzazate to zagora begins in the morning with a private pickup from your hotel or another agreed location in ouarzazate.
Traveling south, the route follows the breathtaking draa valley, famous for its endless palm groves, ancient ksour (fortified villages), and traditional mud-brick kasbahs that blend naturally with the surrounding landscape. Historically, this valley played an important role along the trans-saharan caravan routes and remains one of the most picturesque regions of southern morocco.
Several stops will be made along the way so you can enjoy panoramic views and take photographs of the valley’s beautiful contrasts—green palm oases set against ochre mountains and clear desert skies.
Upon arrival in zagora, situated at the gateway to the sahara, you will begin preparing for your camel trek. Accompanied by experienced camel guides, you will ride slowly into the desert toward your camp. The gentle pace of the camels allows you to appreciate the silence and beauty of the surrounding landscape as the sun begins to set.
As the evening approaches, the desert dunes glow in warm shades of gold, amber, and red. After reaching the camp, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea before settling into your desert tent.
Later, a traditional moroccan dinner will be served under the open sky. The evening continues with berber music and drumming around the campfire, creating a warm and authentic desert atmosphere before you spend the night in your comfortable tent.
Day 2 – Zagora Desert – Ouarzazate (or Marrakech)
Early in the morning, you will have the chance to watch the sunrise over the desert dunes. As the first light spreads across the sand, the peaceful silence of the Sahara offers a truly unforgettable moment.
After breakfast at the camp, you will ride camels back to Zagora where your driver will be waiting. The return journey follows the scenic Draa Valley once again, giving you another opportunity to admire its impressive palm groves and traditional villages.
Depending on your travel plans, the tour can conclude in Ouarzazate or continue toward Marrakech. If traveling to Marrakech, the route crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where panoramic views reveal dramatic mountain landscapes and Berber villages built along the hillsides.
Upon arrival at your chosen destination—whether a hotel, riad, airport, train station, or central location—you will be dropped off comfortably.
This concludes your private Sahara desert tour from Ouarzazate. We hope this experience has provided you with memorable moments and a deeper appreciation of Morocco’s landscapes, culture, and desert heritage.
