This 5-day desert trip from Marrakech to Fes takes you through Morocco’s most diverse and breathtaking landscapes. From the High Atlas Mountains and ancient kasbahs to the golden dunes of the Sahara and the cultural heart of Fes, this tour combines natural beauty, history, and authentic local experiences.
Along the way, you’ll cross scenic mountain passes, explore UNESCO-listed sites, walk through dramatic gorges, and spend an unforgettable night in the Sahara Desert. The trip ends with a guided exploration of Fes before a smooth airport transfer on the final day.
Depart Marrakech in the morning and head east through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass with photo stops along the way. Continue to the fortified village of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its striking earthen architecture and rich historical significance.
After exploring, travel on to Ouarzazate for lunch (not included), then continue through the Skoura oasis and the Valley of Roses. Arrive in the Dades Valley in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, journey through the scenic Dades Valley with stops at panoramic viewpoints. Continue to Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create one of southern Morocco’s most dramatic natural settings.
After lunch along the way, drive east through desert towns and palm oases toward Merzouga. In the late afternoon, begin a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, pausing to enjoy the sunset. Arrive at the desert camp for dinner, traditional music, and an overnight stay beneath the stars. A 4×4 transfer is available if preferred.
Wake early to watch sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast in the desert. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and continue north.
Visit Rissani, once an important caravan trading center, then follow the lush Ziz Valley with its endless palm groves. As the trip continues into the Middle Atlas Mountains, stop near Azrou to see cedar forests and Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or early evening. Dinner and overnight are arranged locally.

Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and cultural capital. Explore the historic medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its maze of narrow streets, traditional markets, artisan workshops, and architectural landmarks.
Highlights may include historic madrasas, fountains, gates, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the city. The afternoon is free for additional exploration or relaxation. Dinner and overnight in Fes.
