Your desert adventure begins with a morning departure from Fes, heading south through scenic mountain landscapes. The first stop is Ifrane, a charming town famous for its European-style architecture and clean streets. Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, you’ll pass through cedar forests where Barbary macaques roam freely.

The trip continues through Midelt before crossing mountain passes and following the Ziz River, offering impressive views of palm-filled valleys and dramatic rock formations. By late afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, you mount camels and trek across the dunes as the sun sets, painting the sand in golden hues. Upon arrival at the desert camp, enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by live Berber music around the campfire beneath a star-filled sky. Overnight in the desert.

Rise early to witness a peaceful sunrise over the dunes, a truly memorable desert moment. After breakfast, return by camel to Merzouga village, where your exploration of the surrounding region begins.

Today is dedicated to discovering the hidden gems of the desert. Travel off-road to visit ancient mineral sites and meet local nomads in their traditional tents, where you’ll learn about their lifestyle while sharing a cup of mint tea. Continue to the village of Khamlia, known for its vibrant Gnaoua music, where rhythms and dances reflect deep African roots.

After free time for lunch, enjoy a relaxing walk through palm groves before heading to the seasonal desert lake, often visited by migratory birds such as flamingos. The evening concludes with dinner and an overnight stay near the dunes.

After breakfast, the trip back begins with a stop in Rissani, once the capital of the Tafilalet region. Wander through its lively traditional market, still an important trading hub for locals. Continue to Erfoud, where you’ll visit a workshop showcasing fossilized marble, a specialty of the area.

The route follows the Ziz River once more, with scenic viewpoints overlooking vast palm oases and dramatic landscapes. Passing again through cedar forests and the town of Ifrane, you return to Fes in the late afternoon. The tour concludes with drop-off at your accommodation or the airport.
