Detailed Itinerary – 10 Days Morocco Trip from Casablanca to Marrakech

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Upon arrival in Casablanca, your driver-host will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore Morocco’s largest city. If you arrive early, visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque, dramatically positioned over the Atlantic Ocean. If your flight lands later in the day, enjoy a relaxed evening settling into your hotel and resting before the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, depart Casablanca for Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where you’ll visit key landmarks including the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah of the Oudayas overlooking the Bou Regreg River. Continue to Meknes to see the Royal Palace gates and explore part of the medina, then visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis with a local guide. In the afternoon, drive through the Rif Mountains to the blue city of Chefchaouen for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Fes

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Chefchaouen, strolling through its peaceful blue alleys and lively small squares. Take time to browse artisan shops, watch local life unfold, and enjoy a coffee with views of the surrounding mountains.

In the afternoon, depart Chefchaouen and travel south toward Fes, descending from the Rif Mountains into fertile plains. Arrive in Fes in the early evening and check into your riad.

Day 4: Full-Day Guided Tour of Fes

Today is devoted to discovering Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. With a certified local guide, explore the historic Fes el-Bali Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin with a panoramic city view, then visit the Royal Palace gates and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah) before wandering through the medina’s maze-like streets, where traditional crafts such as carpet weaving, brass engraving, mosaic tile work, and pottery are still practiced.

A highlight is the iconic Chouara Tanneries, famous for its centuries-old natural dyeing methods. After lunch in a traditional medina restaurant, continue exploring historic madrasas, fountains, and vibrant souks before returning to your riad. Overnight in Fes.

Day 5: Fes – Middle Atlas – Merzouga Desert

Depart Fes early and travel south toward the Sahara, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop near Azrou to see Barbary macaques and continue to Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” After lunch in Midelt, journey through the scenic Ziz Valley, passing Berber villages and ancient kasbahs before arriving in Merzouga.

Day 6: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todgha Gorge – Dades Valley

Rise early to admire the sunrise over the dunes before returning by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga. After breakfast, continue through Erfoud, known for its date festival and fossil workshops, then travel along the scenic Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

Arrive at the spectacular Todgha Gorge, where towering canyon walls reach up to 350 meters. Enjoy free time to walk and take photos before heading on to the beautiful Dades Valley. Check into a local guesthouse, savor a traditional dinner, and overnight in the Dades Valley.

 

Day 7: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, journey through the fragrant Rose Valley, where thousands of roses are harvested each spring for rosewater and cosmetics. Pass rural Berber villages and ancient khettaras (underground irrigation systems) before arriving in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios and historic kasbahs.
